The course at University of Leeds has been my first taste of Graphic and Communication design after previously studying 3D art and fine art. Over the past 3 years, I have developed a love of branding and digital design as well as acquiring diverse new skills. I have enhanced my abilities in Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Figma, producing highly imaginative and conceptual work. My strengths lie in creative idea generation, which is evident in my final independent project.
Alongside my studies at university, I have been gaining practical experience with my graphic design skills in a wide range of industries such as Beauty PR, Interior, Package and Website Design. My current position as an intern for Deja, a wellness brand, specifically in their marketing team, has enriched my understanding of social media design and allowed me to develop valuable skills such as working in a team remotely and contributing ideas in brainstorms.
My final project, Art Peace, shows a wide range of skills learnt over the 3 years from digital to print. The idea of Art Peace is to reduce the devastation of knife crime in major cities. The campaign aims to weave a collective community of people through art, encouraging young people to engage in activities that will aid their mental well-being. In doing so, young people will become aware of the opportunities available to them away from the streets and violent crime.
