Hi, I am Georgie (or G)
I am a creative, hardworking designer who strives to create imaginative concepts throughout the work I produce. During my industrial placement year in Amsterdam, I learned to work on live briefs within a fast-paced environment. It also allowed me to work alongside a variety of creatives and stakeholders, allowing me to improve my communication skills with clients and colleagues. Moving and living abroad for a year helped me gain confidence in all areas of life and has helped to shape me to be the person I am today.
Throughout my university experience, I have become proficient at Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop and have been striving to improve my skills at using Adobe After Effects and have taught myself Blender, a 3D tool. In addition to using digital tools, I have also taken an interest in using analogue formats such as lino-printing and clay to add a dimension of handcrafting to my work. Outside of the course, I have found other passions such as cooking, boxing and playing the flute.
My work displayed demonstrates my capability to use bold colour palettes combined with typographic and illustrations to create a clear visual identity suited for the brief. A lot of my work is focused on mental health and emotions and striving to create designs that help to improve peoples lives.
Juno is a non-profit organisation that offers educational material for children to understand empathy by understanding the connection between emotions and scenarios. Empathy is an important lesson for children to learn at a young age as it can prevent ‘rape culture’ manifesting as the child grows up. Thus the project aims to raise an empathetic generation through the use of character design and semiotic symbols that evoke emotions.
Emotional vs Physical is an exploratory information design project, where pictograms were created to bridge the gap between physical symptoms and emotions. Its purpose is to help the comprehension of emotions by breaking them down into tangible symptoms. Awareness of emotions is essential, as many men in the UK suffer from mental health issues which leads to the most significant cohort to commit suicide. Understanding feelings will help the group vocalise their emotions to others and hopefully allow them to communicate easier. The Nypp project concept is about providing an easy delivery service that offers personalised breasts to women who have had a mastectomy. It focuses on the positives through a humorous tone voice and design.
