Growing up I didn’t really know what I was going to study at university or what I wanted to do once I graduated, but once I discovered graphic design, a sense of clarity appeared. The works that I have done helped me not just increase my skills but also helped me grow as a person.
Graphic design allowed me to branch out in every possible direction and try myself in so many different areas. I started out not knowing which area I would like to work in professionally, but after trying myself in illustration, film shooting and editing, typography, printmaking and 3D modelling and animation, I started to understand what it is that I want to do next.
My final independent project features 3D modelling and animation, because once I started learning how to work in 3D I didn’t want to stop at all. All the elements that make up a 3D scene are what I always loved about graphic design: the control of the light and how it shines on the objects, how bright it is, how bleak or colourful the objects are and how they move in relation to each other.
Another big element of the final project is its connection to emotions and culture. As an international student, it is very important for me to include that personal touch in order to connect people to my work. I also have always been interested in psychology an its connection to art and the effect of art on the human psyche, so that is the other element that helps me bring all of my projects to a higher level.
I hope that in the future, thanks to this course, I can connect more and more people to the world of design and help them by adding a little bit more colour to their day.
