Hi! Aimee here.
I nearly dropped graphics during A Level to be an accountant… and look at me now. My four years of uni (4 !!!) have taught me a lot, and I’ve been able to do some really cool things – including my internship with Disney, and also learning how to wash my own clothes.
In my final year at Leeds I did a lot of crafts, partying, and stressing out of my tiny mind – but I also did some work I’m proud of and now I’m showing some of it to you.
Dawn is a money-managing genius who lives right in your pocket. Aimed at helping people with anxiety to manage their money in an easier way, Dawn helps users by breaking the big stuff down into small bite-sized chunks, in the form of a daily budget. Her relatable and quirky character shines through, putting users at ease and making them feel less alone.
My hometown is Blackpool, a town forgotten by the big guys in suits and left to rot, and so for my final project I focussed on that. My final solutions were the result of 4 mini-briefs which were born out of this topic, and they aim to both improve the experience of Blackpool as a place, and also to bring awareness to how the town has declined from its heyday. Proper Shoppin’ is a campaign, based around an app, which encourages local people to shop local and support their community. The campaign talks directly to people, engaging them by using local language and conversational tone. It’s firm, demanding, and straight to the point, with a hand-drawn typeface and illustration style to match. Wish You Were ‘Ere is a postcard campaign which was created to to raise awareness of how Blackpool has changed, by using current photography alongside copy from old postcards to show the stark contrast. The typeface based on the lettering through a stick of Blackpool rock was designed to support this campaign. Only 2 of the final 4 projects are shown here, but you can see the others on my website nudge nudge wink wink.
