ECO-ANXIETY, 2020

We are living in a world of panic. The extent and extremity of human interference has never been more apparent. The climate crisis is the centre of this issue and as eco-anxiety creeps up on us all, we are faced with more uncertainty.

The fear, worry, darkness and severity intensifies with the outbreak of Covid-19. I act upon the future we are faced with as the climate evolves, and the dynamics of nature become a lot more challenging and complicated.

I present to you the uncontrollable, invisible world of outbreak; channelling the mayhem, anger and representation of today’s global condition by enmeshing natural and organic forms with industrial substances (expandable foam), creating a complex structure of malformities in natural environments. The substance represents biological growths that nature can encounter. Each growth is illuminated using neon acrylic paint. This merges the industrial with transformative biological mutability.
