Florence Congdon

My three years studying at the University of Leeds has opened my eyes to the world of design and all of it possibilities. I have developed in my abilities to use Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop, creating new and exciting designs for conceptual work. I have discovered a love for copywriting and advertising and throughout my projects have used it as a focal point for a lot of my deliverables. Although copy is my obvious strength, I have found generating creative ideas for brands is another. I particularly enjoyed working with Elmwood’s brief for KFC, as well as the D&AD brief for ‘Park Peddlers’.

Alongside university, I have used my design skills volunteering at the Leeds General Infirmary, designing and executing different activities for young children to enjoy whilst they are patients. This has developed my confidence and allowed me to interact with a huge range of age groups, learning about target market needs and aiding me in my communication through design.

Work experience such as ‘Mother’ advertising agency and ‘Big Fish’ design agency has given me an insight into real briefs and brand positioning. I found this experience invaluable for developing my own skills during my three years at Leeds. I currently live in London and am excited to see where design takes me.
