My practice is concerned with images and their significance and impact on culture. It relates to the contemporary condition of existing in a post-information age, in which the internet has profoundly changed the way we obtain, view, and understand images. In a world in which there are more images than instances in one’s lifetime, to have access to so much visual information can be overwhelming and contradictory.

Through a curated feed of images, this photo book works to inspire selective and mindful consumption. At the same time, it aims to highlight the power of images to create narratives and suggest ideals for living. That is why this project engages in creation through curation. The work’s focus is on the female body and mind, observed through their representation in media, their voice in art, and their experience in life.

The appropriation and recontextualization of images of these pages communicates through the interaction of the chosen pictorial elements. The images are charged with multiple layers of significance which, through references, juxtaposition, and superimposition, extend from their original intent to their repurposing. Their narratives expand and reinterpret preceding narratives, bridging the gaps in the space and time between their former context and their significance in this new visual context.
